Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen enjoyed playing athletic games as a child and was a pro in her sports. Her talent for performing was an ideal complement to the passion she had for sports. It was evident by her winning pretty much every Feis prize for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. At the age of 14, she was admitted to the famous Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of performing in classical theatre and operatic singing. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after taking a Maureen screen test. He became captivated by the stunning eyes of Maureen. In the days before she was cast to play for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton together with his friend, Erich Pommer, changed her name from Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - a bit more concise name for the marquee. Maureen was contracted by Laughton to shoot her next movie in America at RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1939). Maureen's contract with Laughton was bought by RKO when this movie had such an enormous hit. Maureen was 19 at the time she was starring alongside Laughton in two movies.
