Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as her by talented parents and family did this naturally. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. Marguerita L. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons came second in a household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and played rough, athletic games when she was young. Her naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. She was awarded nearly all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama that her country had to provide. At the age of 14, she joined an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her aspirations and pursue studies in the classical theater and operatic singing.
